About Us

Meet ... Jan Stevans Janjua - The Boss Lady!

Prescott & Stevans is a small family run business that loves to offer their customers only the finest quality products "

We are based in the Heart of the Black Country in the West Midlands UK. Halesowen to be exact!

The Black Country was famous for many things amongst them coal mines, coking, iron foundries, glass factories, brickworks, steel mills, and Chain making.

“Much of the region lies upon an exposed coalfield where mining has taken place since the Middle Ages, while Dudley and Wren’s Nest also have Limestone mines. The Black Country built the first successful steam engine, produced the anchor for the Titanic, is home to a set of rare Modernist buildings, and helped build London’s Crystal Palace. "

My journey began in 2018 after buying some natural soap at a farmer’s market and loving the way it made my skin feel.  I then started to look at how soap was made.  I was utterly fascinated by the fact that mixing oils together with other ingredients could make a wonderful bar of soap!

My mother also told me that  my uncle had a soap business once and would " cook the soap for days!" That would be hot process soap!

I realised that there were many people who were going "back to nature" by using natural soap.  For this reason, I began my journey which took me two long years, studying, also making lots of bars of soap to test and perfecting the feel and function of both solid and liquid soap.

In our soap, we use blends of Essential oils as well as fragranced oils to cater to all audiences.

Mr. Prescott loves the range of smells from the fragrance soaps whereas I enjoy the sensual smells of Essential oils!

Swaine Bourne was subsequently joined by his son Kendrick Swaine Bourne (1872-1960), a pupil of Henry Payne at Birmingham School of Art from 1888–91, who took over the firm after his father's death in 1923. The firm had several addresses in Birmingham and on Tottenham Court Road in London."

The image was hand-drawn on paper then would be recreated as a window stain work of art, there are 4 drawings from this range (Music, Art, Science, and Literature) This one is the image of Science ( note the handwritten words top right)

NOTE:

OWL: Wisdom!

COG: Productivity

FLAME: Enlightenment; rational thought, advancement, and progress.

These are some of the skills one needs when creating soap! Mixing different oils together creates a different bar of soap therefore formulating and using your knowledge of science is a great asset to have!
